Minister Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD) and State Ministers Bid Farewell to Outgoing World Bank Country Director.

H.E Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD), the Minister for the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, along with state ministers, organized a heartfelt farewell for Ousmane Dione, the outgoing Country Director for Eritrea, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Sudan in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region for the World Bank.

During their meeting, Minister Ergogie Tesfaye expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the World Bank and its leadership for their unwavering support to the Ministry and to Ethiopia as a whole. She specifically highlighted the significant contributions made through the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project and the Rural and Urban Productive Safety Net Programs, which have played a vital role in overcoming the pandemic’s challenges and ensuring the well-being of Ethiopian citizens, with a special focus on women and vulnerable populations.

In response, Ousmane Dione, representing the World Bank, expressed sincere appreciation for the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and the Ethiopian government’s relentless efforts in driving development and improving the lives of the Ethiopian people. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue working together in the future, fostering a strong relationship between the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and the World Bank. Their joint efforts aim to promote social welfare, gender equality, and overall development for the Ethiopian people.
