Global Citizen Summit+ 2024: Fostering Collective Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future

The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, in collaboration with O-YES Global Foundation and its partners, hosted the Global Citizen Summit+ 2024 (GCS 2024) under the theme “Collective Innovative Solutions: Shaping a Sustainable Future.” The event aimed to foster collaboration, innovation, and action towards addressing the world’s most pressing challenges through inspiring global citizens and empowering them to take tangible steps towards positive change.

In her remarks, H.E. Ergogie Tesfaye (PhD)Minister for the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, acknowledged the uncertainty and complexity of the challenges we face, from climate change and global health crises to social inequality and the digital divide. She stressed that these challenges are not limited by borders and require collective efforts, collaboration, and innovative solutions to ensure a bright and sustainable future for all. With only 6 years left to meet the SDGs by 2030, H.E. emphasized the urgent need to act accordingly and recognize the sense of urgency. The theme of the summit reflects the shared commitment to finding innovative solutions to the complex problems facing our world today.

According to O-YES Global Foundation CEO Mr. Kemal Abdella, the event will focus on four pressing sustainable development goals: climate change and environmental sustainability, global health and well-being, innovation and the digital economy, and peacebuilding and conflict resolution. GCS 2024 integrates the principles and goals of the Summit of the Future, providing a forward-thinking environment for participants to explore innovative solutions, engage in strategic dialogue, and forge partnerships to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future.

The summit aims to contribute to building a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient world, where global citizens actively collaborate and innovate to address shared challenges and realize a shared vision of a better future for all. Over the next two days, the discussion will engage in thoughtful dialogue and fruitful discussions on critical topics, including health, climate change, peace and security, innovation, and the empowerment of youth and women.
